I have arrived!!!! I'm hoping to make a few posts today, but in case I only get one done I wanted to update everyone on where I am.
The flights were super smooth, flew to Kona from Seattle with so many YWAMers on the plane. Landed and saw a dear friend some of you may know Scott Coats, it was great. Check in night went super long and I didn't really get to my room until almost midnight. My roommates are great. We have the "older" room. I was worried, because all the children I met on the plane who were 19 that were doing Fire and Fragrance, yeah I didn't want to room with them haha. But seriously it's great, I'm still the oldest in the room, but the other guys are around 28, and our room staff leader is 19 haha. But he's awesome.
From here on out I will refer to Fire and Fragrance (the program I'm doing) as FnF, just FYI.
Life has been soooo busy. I mean since that first night it's just go go go, but it's great. I like the pace. Breakfast Mon-Fri is 6:30-7:15... so if you know me you can probably believe that when I saw that I proclaimed "looks like I will be doing some unplanned fasting, at least in the morning". Surprisingly I haven't missed that breakfast yet, but did miss the Sunday breakfast that only served until 8:30 haha.
It will be an adjustment I'm sure, but I'm excited for the opportunity to adjust my schedule and become a morning person. I'm trying to add a morning quiet time to my day.
Today we met for our "track" times, I'm in the trades group and I cant wait to show you guys the shipping container dorms we hopefully get to work on. But I'm so stoked to be doing trades, one reason is that I get to spend extra hours in the shop, and not cleaning toilets!! We have "work duty" every day of the week, but our work duty is to go to the trades building. We have a welding shop and wood shop. Not sure exactly what we will be doing on a day to day basis but one of our leaders, John, said "basically we want to give you a basic understanding of lots of trades (welding, woodworking, fixing things, etc) so that as missionaries you will be ready when the unexpected happens. It's going to be great!
We start the week of with worship each Monday morning at 8:00 am. Just an hour of singing praise to God and getting our minds ready for the week.
So that's basically where I am right now, lots of introductions, finding things, registration and organization. I hope to make some videos soon, if there's something you want to see let me know in the comments!!
OH!!! almost forgot, as far as fundraising, I know some of you had mentioned still wanting to donate, I'm most likely going to change to a GoFundMe, I'll post most in a few days, so for now don't use the donate link.
