Ok, so first YWAM stands for Youth With A Mission. They were formed in the 1960's and now have bases all around the world. There are a couple hundred campuses like the one I'll be going to and over 1,000 ministry sites. If you'd like more info click here to go to their about me page.
The program I will be doing is part of YWAM's DTS (discipleship training school) classes. I will be part of the "Fire and Fragrance" group. Originally I had applied to the crossroads school, but it seems that the people applying were a little older this semester. So I switched to Fire and Fragrance. It's definitely a younger group, I'll be on the older spectrum, but it has an extra month of the outreach portion. So I wont be coming back until the first week of July. Pray for me about leadership, it's been put on my heart that since I will be one of the older people in this group that I will find myself in a leadership role from time to time, pray that I am worthy of that task. The course work is below, I'm really excited about being in a classroom again, each week we will be focusing on a different topic with guest speakers.
Hearing God’s Voice
The Father heart of God
Identity in Christ
The Cross
How to study and communicate God’s Word effectively
The Nature and Character of God
Biblical worldview
Intercession and spiritual warfare
The Holy Spirit
Relationships
Cross-cultural ministry
The school I am going to is in Kona Hawaii. It's going to be a drastic change from my current scenery of mountains, cold, and snow. Its one of the bigger campuses and goes by the name "University of the Nations" or "UofN" for short. Every 3 months students from all over the world arrive for programs just like mine and then we are sent out to over 40 Nations for mission work.
I will be living in a dorm room, maybe with 5 other people in the same room. And I'm excited about it LOL. One of the things I'm looking forward to the most is the community aspect of the school. Being surrounded by those who are intentionally living out a gospel centered life. Iron sharpens Iron. Eating at a cafeteria again, being on a campus, its like going back to college. So if you have any questions that I didn't address here just shoot me a message.
